About Us

Freehold High School is one of six schools that comprise the Freehold Regional High School District. The mission statement of the school -- which includes the phrase "commitment to excellence" -- is reflected in a five-year plan that guides the actions and decisions of the administrative cabinet and serves as both anchor and compass for the school community, helping to ensure academic opportunity and success for all students who attend this comprehensive high school.

Freehold High School students have a wide variety of courses from which to choose. In addition, the school houses the district Medical Science Magnet Program as well as the Culinary and Computer Science Magnet Programs. The Medical Science Magnet Program curriculum is designed for highly motivated, gifted students and has a strong emphasis on the biological sciences. Students complete advanced studies in biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and research and statistics. The four-year Computer Science program prepares students for post-secondary studies in computer science or computer programming while the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management curriculum provides the foundation for students interested in careers in food service and/or restaurant management. The curriculum includes hands on experiences in operating a fully functioning restaurant, the Five Star Cafe, which is open to the community.

To foster excellence, all courses are consistently evaluated and appropriate materials purchased to support revisions. Consequently, Freehold High School students routinely score well on Advanced Placement exams and the Scholastic Aptitude Tests. Each year a number of students are chosen to participate in the prestigious Governor’s School Summer Enrichment Programs, while others earn distinction as a National Merit Scholarship commended student, semi-finalist, or finalist. 

The second half of the school day at Freehold High School offers students the opportunity to participate in countless clubs and activities or as an athlete on one of many varsity level teams. Here too students distinguish themselves in a variety of ways. Each school year athletic teams earn team conference and state titles with individual athletes achieving recognition on all-conference, all-county, and all-state teams. Students involved in our drama program, the band, choir, and the computer science league also are acknowledged throughout the county and the state for their impressive achievements.

Freehold High School has a highly qualified staff committed to working with the students in this school. These teachers value continuing education and embrace opportunities for continuous professional growth and development which subsequently improves pedagogy and student learning. Community involvement is encouraged and welcomed in a variety of forums, most especially the Parent/Teacher/Student Organization whose members work in a spirit of mutual cooperation with the school administrators and teachers.
